How much is the average college application fee?
The average college application fee is about $41, according to U.S. News & World Report, although some colleges charge up to $90, and others do not have an application fee at all. Once you've submitted your application, the fee is typically nonrefundable, even if you are not ultimately accepted. However, many colleges offer fee waivers for applicants who have limited financial resources. You can find details on the college application fee waiver here, and you can find the Application Fee Waiver form here (pdf).
To quickly find a specific school's application fee, type in the school's name at the College Board's College Finder, then select the "Applying" tab on the left. The app fee will display automatically on the right of the page (in the green box).
