What is iTunes U?

iTunes U is a free service available from Apple that features educational audio and video content from hundreds of colleges and universities. Member institutions - such as Harvard University and the University of Oxford - are given their own iTunes U site to upload such material as course lectures, language lessons, lab demonstrations, sports highlights and campus tours. For example, you can "take" an entire University of Michigan course on Shakespeare's principal plays.

The site also includes material for grades K-12 as well as a "Beyond Campus" section that features material from such outlets as PBS, Khan Academy and the UK's Victoria & Albert Museum.

iTunes U is free to access in the iTunes Store, though you will need to download iTunes software on your computer to access this material (you can download the latest version of iTunes here. You can find a list of colleges and universities on iTunes U here and you find a list of some of our favorite courses here.
