How many students take out educational loans?

Sixty-six percent of college graduates at four-year public and private nonprofit colleges had student loans in 2011, with an average debt of $26,600. An estimated one-fifth of all student debt for the class of 2011 at public and private nonprofit four-year colleges was composed of private loans. For for-profit four-year colleges, 96% took out student loans.
