To come up with its list of the nine best college dorm deals, Forbes looked at total room and board costs at every four-year institution that requires first-year students to live on campus. To qualify as a good deal, total costs had to be less than the average cost of room and board nationwide, and the school had to appear within the top 100 on Forbes' list of the best U.S. colleges. The nation's best dorm deal, at $6,590 per year, is Kenyon College, located in Gambier, Ohio, due to its low prices and high academic quality, according to Forbes. Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., and Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN, also made the list.
